An Eighty-Year History....

In the 1920’s, the electrical industry was in its infancy and electrical equipment was often difficult to locate. Maurice Lessans and his brothers recognized the need for an electrical supply store that would provide a knowledgeable sales staff with exceptional service. On this simple premise, Atlantic Electric Supply opened its first Washington, DC office on New York Avenue in March of 1927. Two moves later, in 1951, Atlantic Electric moved to its present location at 3726 Tenth Street, N.E.
Today Atlantic Electric is still family-owned and managed. While the business has grown and changed with the electrical industry, Atlantic Electric prides itself in providing the same knowledgeable service and dedication to customer satisfaction that it always has.

Built on a Strong Foundation....
Atlantic Electric's long history has created a strong foundation from which to build for the future. We currently maintain six sales departments operating from facilities in Washington, DC and Rockville, MD. An extensive inventory at our Washington, DC facility and a dedicated group of warehouse, delivery and administrative staff support the sales effort.
A brief description of each department is provided below.

Counter Sales
Supporting the needs of the electrical contractor and homeowner, Atlantic Electric's Counter Sales staff prides itself on getting its customers in and out quickly with whatever is needed to complete an electrical job. Atlantic Electric also provides "Will Call" service.

Supply Department
Atlantic Electric's Supply department caters to businesses with recurring electrical equipment needs. These businesses include schools, hospitals, institutions, property management companies and hotels, to name a few. Atlantic Electric accepts phone, fax or E-mail orders and provides free next-day delivery.

Commercial Lighting
Atlantic’s Commercial Lighting department recently expanded and relocated to Rockville, MD. Since this second facility opened in April 2002, Atlantic has been poised to serve more of our customers' needs and projects in a more timely and efficient manner.
The Commercial Lighting group specializes in providing our customers with complete lighting packages required for commercial jobs including: offices, malls, hotels, restaurants, schools, tenant renovations, churches, site lighting for new and old construction and more.

Residential Lighting
Atlantic Electric's Residential Lighting specialists provide lighting packages for projects ranging from apartments and condominiums to tract and custom homes. Our designers are available by appointment for on-site layout design and consultation. Atlantic Electric also maintains a large Showroom and Lighting Lab.

Government Sales
As a Local and Small Designated Business Enterprise in Washington, DC, our Government Sales staff specializes in providing lighting and electrical equipment to every federal agency as well as many local city, county and state agencies. We also serve overseas embassies and many military facilities. To better serve this market, we accept the government IMPAC Visa and electronic fund transfers.

Switch Gear
Our Switch Gear department has provided power distribution equipment to hundreds of commercial and residential tenants, churches, synagogues, restaurants, schools and government agencies. Thanks to our on-line capabilities, our clients receive up-to-the-minute parts availability and order status, and everything from simple specification sheets to a complete set of drawings for a customized panel board schedule or metering line-up. We also value engineer any plans and specifications upon request.

Warehouse & Delivery
Our Warehouse & Delivery personnel are charged with maintaining the uppermost in efficiency... our policy is to log and correct any error, no matter how minor. We are all driven to satisfy even the smallest electrical requirements for all of our customers, and are pleased to offer “Will Call” service and free next-day delivery from our extensive inventory.

The Administration department is located at our main office in Washington, DC. Our staff manages the daily accounting and credit functions, responding quickly to your changing needs and bottom line.
